Want To Know Your Future? Is It Worth It?

Watching the film, 'The Adjustment Bureau' got me thinking about fate and destiny and I just found myself writing some questions and scribbling some notes. I'm not promising answers here, mostly questions in fact. I thought I'd put them on here as they might make you think, or help you, or maybe change the way you do things right now. Hopefully for the better!

If the path of your life is already planned, who planned it?

What it god? Was it something or someone else, or was it you?

There are many philosophies, theories and beliefs about whether your future is pre-determined, a result of chance, or created by you as you go along.

Some believe that certain events are absolutes, they are destined to happen regardless of anything else. Some people believe you get in this life what you deserve from a previous one. Some people believe that you decide (before you come in to this world) what you wish to experience and plan out your life accordingly. Some people believe, you are born and then you die and nothing else exists so there is no chance of anything being organised or planned.

Maybe this is a more important question than any other. -

Will knowing your future make a difference to how you live your life?

Should it?

Personally I think we are here to experience being human, physical, creative beings but that we are also here to remember that we are part of a larger spiritual, energy. I also believe that we have a calling of some sort, and when we are answering that calling, whatever it may be, whoever decided what it was, we are living in true alignment with ourselves. This is when we are happiest, this is when we can deal with the ups and downs of life, this is when things work out well for us. Beyond that, I have no idea how things are worked out and, to be honest, I try not to think about it too much, I have too much else to do! And, it can seriously screw with your head!

The one thing I do know for sure is that we can waste an awful lot of time chasing our tails trying to find out what our futures might be, and continuing to look for answers if the ones we hear are not to our liking. Wouldn't it be better, to take some control and some action? Or at the very least to live in your life however the outcome is determined? That way at least you stand a chance of enjoying it, and if it is the case that we sculpt our path through our choices and decisions, of getting what you want from it.

Sometimes people are quite surprised that I have a very pragmatic side. I have strong spiritual beliefs but am also very aware that we can get hung up on thoughts and theories, we can read too much into things and sometimes we just have to accept life for the experience that we are currently having. Don't put your life on hold trying to find out what the future looks like, if you believe it's already laid out for you, you can't do anything about it anyway.
