Make a Mind Movie - How To Create Your Future

Where are you in your life? Are you happy with the life you have, or do you wish that it could be different? You may be surprised to learn that we are much more capable than we think of creating the life that we want. Do you know what life you really want? Do you know how to create your future? It could be as simple as making a mind movie...

If you don't know what you want in the years head, try this little 10-minute mind movie exercise and see if you can take the first step in creating your ideal life (read through the entire exercise before doing it):

1. Close your eyes and relax.

2. Think forward 10 years.

3. You're living the life you've always wanted. You're in the place you've always wanted to be with the people you've always wanted to be with. What are you doing, where are you and who are you with?

4. Use all your five senses to make this as real for you as possible: what are you seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, feeling and tasting? Take a few moments to really get in to this scenario. Make the colours more vibrant as you visualise the scenario. Make the sounds louder. Make the smells more potent.

5. Take note of your feelings and how they change as you go through the scenario. This is your future, and it can contain whatever you want it to. So think as big as you want. Notice how your feelings and the sensations in your body change as you become more and more engrossed in your scenario...

6....and when you're ready open your eyes

Take note of how this exercise makes you feel. How do you feel now about your life both now and in the future?

At this stage of the game, you do not need to concern yourself with the how. This will become apparent to you the more that you revisit this scenario. Do this exercise every day for 10 minutes for 30 days. See how you feel after 30 days. Notice how real the scenario feels. Notice, at the end of 30 days, your emotions and what stands out for you as you go through your life.

This is an immensely powerful visualisation exercise derived from neuro-linguistic programming or NLP. This is a branch of personal development that considers the significance and influence of how we think, feel and behave. When this simple exercise is repeated on a daily basis, over time it becomes embedded in your psyche and eventually you begin to significantly change the way in which you view your life and your future.
